There are more than 500 million used cell phones in the U.S. sitting in people's drawers or worse, in our landfills, and another 130 million will be added this year alone!

The solution is easy, free and tax deductible -- and you already recycle newspapers, bottles and cans!

Just follow these simple steps:

Fill out the form below.
Print the mailing receipt (to put inside the package), and the postage paid mailing label (to apply outside the package).
Put your cell phone, charger, and accessories into a box or padded envelope (Don't forget to ask your neighbors, co-workers and friends if they have any old cell phones -- send as many as you can collect).
Give the package to your mail handler or drop off at the post office. Because you used the postage paid mailing label, shipping is free.

NOTE: The Recycle My Cell Phone campaign/EARTHWORKS recycles its phones through Collective Good. EARTHWORKS (or a RMCP partner, if you've arrived at this page by link from a RMCP partner's web site) receives approximately $1 per phone recycled. EARTHWORKS has partnered with Collective Good (as have many other nonprofits) in part because it is a signer of the Electronics Recycler's Pledge of True Stewardship. All funds received from Collective Good are used exclusively to promote cell phone recycling, to support voluntary recycling efforts and for public education.

Terms and Conditions: CollectiveGood Terms & Conditions Overview CollectiveGood Cell Phone Recycling enables consumers to recycle their used cell phones / mobile phones (hereafter referred to as Phones) and PDAs to generate funds for charities and partner organizations. We reserve the right to alter, cancel, or amend our services at our sole discretion. The use of CollectiveGood's recycling service is governed by the terms, policies and conditions set forth in this User Agreement ("Agreement"). Your use of CollectiveGood's recycling service indicates your acceptance of these terms, policies and conditions. We may amend this agreement at any time by posting the amended terms on our site. Except as stated, the amended terms will automatically be effective immediately after they are posted. Disconnect Phone Service Consumers agree to disconnect service on all Phones BEFORE sending them to CollectiveGood. CollectiveGood is not responsible and will not be liable for any and all airtime charges or any other charges accrued prior to, during, or after processing by CollectiveGood. The original user and wireless carrier / service provider are responsible for resolving payment issues regarding any and all carrier-based service charges. One way to test whether your Phone is disconnected is to attempt to place a call. If you successfully place a call, please contact your service provider to disconnect your service before donating your Phone through CollectiveGood. Note that certain numbers, such as 611 or 911, are designed to function even if your phone is disconnected. Please use the number of an acquaintance rather than these special service numbers when testing your phone for active service. If you are unable to operate your Phone to conduct a test, you may wish to contact your service provide to verify that your Phone is out of service. Customer Information / Stored Data CollectiveGood is not responsible and will not be liable for the use of any personal information stored in memory of a donated Phone or PDA after it has been donated. Consumers are responsible for removing any and all data they deem sensitive from all phone memory and removable memory BEFORE sending their Phones or PDAs to CollectiveGood. This includes, but is not limited to phonebook information, personal codes, e-mail addresses, personal addresses, IM addresses, photos, and downloaded files. ALL phones and PDAs enable users to remove personal data from their memories. Please review the contents of your Phone or PDA and remove any data you consider private or confidential before donating your cell phone or PDA. Contact your device manufacturer if you have questions regarding the erasure procedure. Services * CollectiveGood accepts and recycles all makes and models of cell phones, mobile phones, pagers and PDAs. * All battery chargers and related accessories are accepted. * All handsets, other mobile devices and / or accessories sent to CollectiveGood that cannot be reused will be properly recycled in accordance with EPA guidelines and the Basel Action Network.
